The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is thrilled to announce the launch of a new CD released by Navona Records – Contemporary Colours. The album features new works by Maltese composers with the orchestra under the baton of Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan.Presenting a selection of works by innovative composers, the CD combines full orchestration with pre-recorded elements, traditional instruments, and contemporary sounds to bring the pieces to life. The repertoire features Three Pieces by Euchar Gravina, Waiting by Mariella Cassar-Cordina, Mesogeios by Cristopher Muscat, Fine Line by Véronique Vella, Riħ (Wind) by Alexander Vella Gregory and Xamm (Scent) by Albert Garzia.Recorded in January at the orchestra’s music hub at Robert Samut Hall and produced by PARMA Recordings. The album will be Released in physical and digital format on November 20, and distributed by Naxos on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, amongst other platforms.Supported by Festivals Malta, the project aims to highlight Maltese music and taps the MPO’s mission of acting as a keen exponent of Maltese composers in Malta and overseas.

Soprano saxist Marion Meadows has been a crown prince in the smooth jazz court for so long, it's easy to wonder if he remembers his days woodshedding with Joe Henderson and Norman Connors' Starship Orchestra. He's been wildly successful, and his time with the Heads Up label has hardly been wasted; his rep is deep and wide, and his records move. Unlike a better selling counterpart on the same instrument, Meadows has a keen sense of rhythm and pitch, and his tonal control is top-notch. Given the tunes here, interchangeable deep relaxing grooves that borrow on everything from trip-hop to jazz, and house to Wes Montgomery's early experiments check "Remember Me," for evidence of the latter it's easy to forget the individuality Meadows possesses not only on soprano, but also on tenor and flute (he employs all three on "Coco Flow,") as well as alto on the opening title track.

Music For Meditation is a 1999 compilation of new age music for meditative purposes. It was released by a label that specializes in this type of sounds, Oreade Music.

Siril Malmedal Hauge composes music that touches and captures, with honest lyrics most people can recognize themselves in.
