The first Swamp Pop superstar, Jimmy Clanton emerged from Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1958 with the million-selling 'Just A Dream', and went on to become Ace Records' most commercially-successful recording artist. This 64 track 2CD set presents a comprehensive career overview between 1958-1962, including all his As and B-sides and the standout tracks from four LPs. Features a dozen hit singles, including million sellers 'Just A Dream', 'A Letter To An Angel', 'A Part Of Me', 'Go Jimmy Go' and 'Venus In Blue Jeans'. Also presented here are many collectors' rarities, including movie soundtrack clips and unreleased tracks, which are unavailable elsewhere on CD. Jimmy Clanton continues to appear in R&R and R&B revival festivals, and in 2007 was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

If it wasn't for the recordings on this 60 tracker the whole 20th century musical landscape would be completely different. Albert King doesn’t require much of an introduction, he was one of the “Three Kings of the Blues” and arguably next to B.B. he was perhaps the most popular of the many genuine blues guitarists to have been adopted by the rock world during the mid-1960s. Albert began playing in the late ‘40s and made his first recordings in 1953 and it is these early sessions that are the focus of this outstanding collection from Jasmine. Includes tracks “Blues At Sunrise” his fine version of Tampa Red’s “Little Boy Blue” and his hit song “Don’t Throw Your Love On Me So Strong” plus many other superb tracks. Albert King influenced many artists including Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield and Stevie Ray Vaughan. This then is Albert King’s first tentative steps towards global popularity compiled in chronological order.

In the 50s and early 60s, Bobby "Blue" Bland was one of the main creators of the modern soul-blues sound. Along with such artists as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, and Junior Parker, Bland developed a sound that mixed gospel with blues and R&B. Bobby's style of soul-blues was punctuated with a slick big-band sound, showing the considerable influence of B.B. Kingflavored guitar riffs. This essential collection compiles 22 tracks that Bland recorded for the Duke label. It serves as the best introduction for anyone wanting to explore the finest moments of Bobby Bland's discography. This is the material upon which Bland's reputation was built. It is enduring music: blues played by small to mid-size ensembles, complete with sassy horns and a ringing vibraphone.
