Taking The Long Way is the 2006 album buy country trio the Dixie Chicks. Released by Open Wide/Columbia, the Rick Rubin-produced 7th album for the group was released on 23 May, 2006. This is the Best Buy edition which features an exclusive track.

In 1950, Ian Thomas was born in Hamilton, Ontario. Once he began to play piano at the age of six Thomas fell in love with the world of music. He later learned the guitar. By 1969 he was in a folk group called Tranquility Base which began to tour across Canada. They had a #3 hit in Hamilton in 1970 called “If You’re Looking”. This led to an album, but further success eluded them. Thomas became a producer at the CBC. By 1973 he got his own record deal with GRT Records and released “Painted Ladies”. The song climbed to #9 in Vancouver and #34 on the Billboard Hot 100. His self-titled album went Gold. Thomas won the 1974 Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist and toured with April Wine. He got exposure on a number of TV variety shows in Canada which included both his musical and comedic talents.

Recorded and produced by Ray LaMontagne in (fittingly) his home studio, Long Way Home is the follow-up to 2020's critically acclaimed album Monovision. Of the album, LaMontagne says, "Every song on Long Way Home is in one way or another honoring the journey. The languorous days of youth and innocence. The countless battles of adulthood, some won, more often lost. It's been a long hard road, and I wouldn't change a minute."

Singer-songwriter Peter Cincotti chatted with Digital Journal about his upcoming studio album "Long Way From Home," which will be out on October 13. Regarding the song selection process for his fifth studio album, Long Way From Home, he said, "Oddly enough, without sounding crazy, a lot of these songs came to me in dreams. I would wake up and they were mostly there. Sometimes in fragments, sometimes more complete, sometimes music, sometimes lyrics, sometimes both. So, in a weird way the songs selected me."
