Love on The Quiet

Veteran rockers QUIET RIOT will release their new studio album, "Hollywood Cowboys", on November 8 via Frontiers Music Srl.

“The Randy Rhoads Years” is a compilation album from Quiet Riot that features songs from Randy Rhoads’ time with the band in the late 1970s. It features previously unreleased material and some remixed songs from Quiet Riot’s first two albums which were released only in Japan. These two albums, Quiet Riot and Quiet Riot II, have yet to see any sort of release outside of Japan due to the wishes of the Rhoads family.

Once again combining softened elegance with his gentlemanly approach to the simple love song, Chris de Burgh remains true to form on Quiet Revolution with polished ballads and morning-friendly, mid-tempo material. de Burgh's style hasn't strayed since "The Lady in Red" peaked at number three in 1987, and from that point on he has tried to emulate the same success with his romantic formula of ballroom-type love songs and delicate lyrics. Although Quiet Revolution offers up a handful of these, some of the other tracks exhibit punchy melodies that still display de Burgh's heartfelt voice.

The bass has seen its share of extraordinary innovators in the hundred-plus years of jazz history. Stanley Clarke, much like such hallowed figures as Jimmy Blanton, Charles Mingus and Scott LaFaro, was a game changer on his instrument. Unlike those who came before him though, Clarke helped alter the nature of both the acoustic and electric configurations of the bass. His groundbreaking work of the 1970s has been so integrated into the very fabric of modern jazz bass playing that a return visit to his own brilliant recordings can be nothing less than a revelatory listening experience.

Often the recycled packagings of Motown hits fail to meet expectations; not so with Baddest Love Jams, Vol. 1, which is all that and then some. All renditions are full versions, not radio edits.
