The Everly Brothers were not only among the most important and best early rock & roll stars, but also among the most influential rockers of any era. They set unmatched standards for close, two-part harmonies and infused '50s rock & roll with some of the best elements of country and pop music. In the late '60s and early '70s, their style proved a natural fit for the burgeoning country-rock movement. After a mid-'70s breakup, the duo reunited in the '80s and continued performing together into the 21st century.

This CD has Aaron Neville singing Dobie Grey's "Drift Away," and is worth every cent for that song alone. But it also has "Tell It Like It Is," "Only You," and "Amazing Grace," all with the Neville Brothers' incredible voices and harmonies. Needs to be in everyone's collection!

The Chemical Brothers release a 25th anniversary reissue of their visionary breakthrough second album. Dig Your Own Hole was recorded and road tested in the underground. On its release on 7th April 1997, the duo’s second album immediately redrew the boundaries of the mainstream. What had been created as a relentless, rapturous soundtrack to basements and backrooms entered the UK album charts at No 1 on the back of two No 1 singles (Setting Sun and Block Rockin’ Beats), and the US Billboard charts at No 14. The first British electronic record to crack the US rock charts, it would go on to sell half a million copies in the States in six months. Dig Your Own Hole always was, and always will be, a total trip.

Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, "Blue Lou" Marini, and Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin were all members of the all-star band that backed John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd in their Blues Brothers incarnation between 1978 and 1980. Here, they reorganized with a few more players, notably singer Larry "T" Thurston, as the Blues Brothers Band. The music (mostly new songs) was in the Blues Brothers' familiar up-tempo R&B style, Elwood Blues made a cameo appearance, and the playing was session-man-hot, but of course it just wasn't the same without Joliet Jake, who had gone to that great roadhouse in the sky ten years before.

In spite of their very long careers in jazz, brothers Hank, Thad and Elvin Jones made relatively few recordings together; this Leonard Feather-produced date got the three of them into the studio and added to the gimmick by including Eddie Jones (no relation) on bass, and performing exclusively works by Thad or Isham Jones (also no relation). The music that's stood the test of time includes Thad's often-recorded "Three and One," which was evidently written for this session, and Isham Jones' best-known works "It Had to Be You," and the perennial favorite "There Is No Greater Love."

The Whisky Brothers, featuring Richard Heath on vocals and mandolin and Gerry Smith on piano, perform old style acoustic blues with songs from the great American blues tradition as well as their own material. In the mid 1990s, Richard and Gerry formed the Splinter Blues Band which, apart from performing at venues like Ronnie Scott’s, also hosted a popular weekly blues club at the Hare and Hounds in south Birmingham for many years. In 2012 they reunited to form the Whisky Brothers, returning to their favourite style of music and the songs they most love to play.
