Mad as Hell

With a voice described by pianist Gene D’Andrea as “heartfelt” and “full of possibilities,” twenty-two-year old vocalist Alicia Varcoe is breaking into the jazz scene. Already, Alicia has performed for international audiences at such venues as the U.S. Consulate General in Hamburg, Germany, Roskilde Jazz Days in Denmark, and for an audience of over five thousand in The Hague, the Netherlands. She has shared the stage with jazz luminaries such as Ed Neumeister, Steve Abshire, John Brown, Bobby Muncy, Kevin Pace, and Jon Metzger, with whom she studies. Currently, she is the vocalist for the Elon University Jazz Ensemble in North Carolina. Alicia is also a talented pianist, and works as a freelance accompanist for vocalists and instrumentalists. Her debut album, Since I Fell For You premiered March 2013, and features new arrangements of jazz standards, as well as her own original compositions.

Neil Young with Crazy Horse will release World Record on November 18, 2022. It's their second album of new studio recordings within the past 12 months. World Record is produced by Rick Rubin and Neil Young, and Neil is accompanied by his longtime band, Crazy Horse (Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, Nils Lofgren). The album features 10 new Neil Young compositions (plus a short reprise of one song) and was mixed to analog tape at Rubin’s Shangri-la studios using a selection of vintage instruments and equipment. To optimize the audio quality, the vinyl format will be released as a 3-sided double album with an etching on side 4. 'World Record' will also be released on CD (2 CDs mirroring the track sequence of the double LP) and cassette. World Record contains ten songs, nine written during the last year about the events and condition of our world.

The sixth full-length release for Meg Remy as U.S. Girls was recorded with a live band and was co-produced with Steve Chahley. The album features dark meditations reflecting charged atmospheres that directly precede and follow acts of violence. Many of the songs are character studies of women grappling with power; how to gain and exert it spiritually, as well as desperate strategies to mitigate its infliction. Remy also rallies against the public lies told by political and religious leaders, and more crucially, questions the lies we tell ourselves in order to survive. While U.S. Girls, denoting the plural, is no longer a misnomer, "In A Poem Unlimited" may be Remy’s most individually distilled protest to date.
