Magic Flute

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozar, full baptismal name Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. He composed over six hundred works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers.

In 2006 Mozart’s 250th birthday was celebrated. For this occasion Cascade Medien compiled an outstanding CD collection, presenting his most famous works from Concerts, Quartets, Divertimenti through to Symphonies, Arias, Opera Scenes, Famous Overtures, Sonatas and many more.

One of the most refined Beethoven performers of his generation, Rudolf Buchbinder recorded a monumental complete collection of Beethoven piano works in the 1970s. Enjoy 100 tracks among the best of this iconic set, from the sonatas to the variations and bagatelles, and even some chamber works performed with János Starker and Wolfgang Schulz!

In 1937 he joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Serge Koussevitsky, performing as first cellist until 1940. In 1938 he began a solo career at Boston's Town Hall, accompanied by Leonard Shure. He was first cellist of the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, Paris, 1946–47. In 1947 he gave his British debut under Beecham, again performing Don Quixote at the Festival of Richard Strauss in London. "My boy", Beecham said, "you will be successful in England because you have temperament".

The fruitful partnership between the Alpha label, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and the Palazzetto Bru Zane continues with this set of chamber music by Anton Reicha, performed by the musicians of the Chapel, young talents of an exceptionally high standard, ready and willing to take up the challenge of this music.

Always an intrepid musical explorer, Magic Malik decided to start messing with electronic music on this new project, alongside DJ Oil, Gilbert Nouno and Hubert Motteau. Between contemporary music, electro, pop and jazz, the new album, Tranz Denied, was essentially composed in studio on a rhythmic base laid out by DJ Oil, on which Magic Malik sings, plays flute, keyboard, bass and guitar. Malik Mezzadri made a name for himself by being a part of some of the most remarkable bands of the last fifteen years. He grew up in Guadeloupe where he began playing flute at the age of 6. He moved to Marseille at 17 and graduated from its Conservatoire with a Flute first prize.

Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons is a milestone in music. On the one hand, the cycle is firmly anchored in baroque aesthetics, on the other hand, one is already moving in the direction of the galant style. In our new recording, Vivaldi's works have been carefully arranged for pan flute with orchestra by the composer Carlos Pino-Quintana. The great challenge was to maintain or even emphasise polyphonic elements of the original solo part in the new instrumentation, to subtly transfer the technical characteristics of the violin to the pan flute, to find adequate keys, and to balance the resulting contrasts and timbres between solo and tutti in the sense of concerto grosso.
