Mary’s pupils - Jake, Jess and Claire - all have one thing in common: they have never cooked a meal from scratch in their lives. Mary teaches Somerset zoo keeper Jake her recipe for butternut squash, stilton and sage tart, so he can attempt to treat his bosses with a surprise feast to thank them for all of their support this year. But he struggles from the off, failing to follow Mary’s instructions and serving up something that even his animals wouldn’t go near.

In this sumptuous and heartwarming programme, Mary Berry visits Harewood House in Yorkshire to meet its army of skilled staff and dedicated volunteers as they prepare the house for Christmas. Mary discovers how houses like Harewood celebrate Christmas on a grand scale and shows us how to make delicious modern recipes inspired by forgotten festive dishes of the past.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of John Berry's legendary Christmas tour and to celebrate that milestone achievement John is releasing what music critics who have heard it already are calling his "masterpiece". John Berry Christmas is a 10-cut album of originals and John's unique take on a few Christmas classics. John even remakes the song that put him on the map for Christmas, the fabled O' Holy Night, as only John Berry could. John co-produced the album with his wife of 28 years, Robin Berry and it features one new song John co-wrote, as well as their son Caelan Berry on drums.
