mc Laughlin

Listening to guitar players such as John Mc Laughlin, Pat Metheny, Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale or Allan Holdsworth Renaud Louis-Servais built his own guitar-playing style. He created the fusion band Iluna in 2000 where he met Alain Bidot-Naude (drums) and Henri Dorina (bass). The band was semi-finalist in 2008 and 2009 in ISC (International Songwriting Competition) with three of their tunes : "Theme d'iluna", "Euria" and "Gimmick". In 2010, Franck Guicherd (keyboards/trumpet) joined the band, which became the Renaud Louis-Servais Group. In 2011, the first album Iluna was recorded and mixed by Steve Prestage (Peter Gabriel, Gino Vannelli, Garry Moore) and released.

Best Service have released Artist Drums, a Native Instruments Kompakt based plugin instrument that features original drum kits from four of the worlds best drummers: Simon Philips (Toto, Jeff Back, Who, Pete Townshend), Dennis Chambers (Santana, Steely Dan, John Mc Laughlin), Kenny Aronoff (Joe Cocker, Ricky Martin, Mick Jagger) and Mel Gaynor (Simple Minds, Tina Turner, Robert Palmer, Gary Moore).

Combined with Artist Drums you have a fantastic collection of drum kits and grooves played by some of the worlds most respected drummers: Simon Phillips: Toto, Jeff Beck, The Who, Pete Townshend. This is a searing art rock monsterpiece dominated by a relentlessly coruscating lead guitar sonic attack as if played by a demonically possessed john mc laughlin, Flux is ex Babe Ruth, ex Motiffe, with lead guitar by john grimaldi before he joined Argent and worked on their prog masterpiece Circus. This LP is taken from a mono mastertape recorded on a BBC Mobile Unit at a live gig in 1973, a shocked Record Mirror journalist witnessed the concert and described it in a published Record Mirror review as ‘a new form of music’. Sound quality is great and this is a band in top form playing exactly what they want, in a zone a bit like King Crimsons Red, but with insane guitar leads that bludgeon the listener to death. The vocalist later joined italian prog rockers Flea On The Honey.
