Dès Add Fiction, son premier album paru en 2011, Rémi Panossian faisait déjà forte impression. En trio, on sentait le jeune pianiste montpelliérain en pleine maîtrise d’un certain héritage jazz influencé par le rock, le funk et l’électro. Depuis, son style s’est musclé comme chacun des enregistrements de la formation le prouvera… A 35 ans, Panossian change son fusil d’épaule en signant son premier album en solo.

Rémi Panossian (born 1983, Montpellier, France), started playing piano at the age of seven. He was only ten years old when he attended a Michel Petrucciani concert and got hooked on jazz. Rémi studied at the Montpellier Jazz School, not only learning musical theory and the history of jazz, but also improvisation at which he excelled. He took part in many master classes and had the good fortune to interact with such musical greats as Stéphane Kochoyan, Steve Coleman and Andy Milne.

Alexandre Tharaud's relationship with film music runs deep - it also ranges wide. On his album CINEMA, the French pianist delves into celebrated film scores by composers from France, Italy, the USA, Japan, Poland, Romania and Lebanon.

Originally released in 1998 and hard to get hold of outside of Japan, ‘BTTB’, or ‘Back To The Basics’ is now reissued on 2LP to mark its 20th anniversary. It’s effectively a definitive edition of ‘BTTB’, reshuffled from the original 2LP pressing to also include ‘Energy Flow’ from the BTTB’ maxi-single, (which peaked at No.4 in the Japanese singles charts), as well as the slippery elegance of ‘Reversing’, both on the vinyl album for the first time.

The remastered edition will feature liner notes from famed author Haruki Murakami. For the album’s reissue, Murakami writes: “Personal and intimate music – somebody (an anonymous somebody) sitting alone in front of the school piano early in the morning, weaving a melody, exploring harmonies. Music that gradually fills a space with high ceilings that contains the wafting presence of rain.”
