Tattoos & Tequila is the third solo studio album by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil. It is Neil's first solo release in 7 years since the live album Live at the Whisky: One Night Only in 2003 and the first solo studio album in 15 years since 1995's Carved in Stone. It is also his first solo studio album as the current lead singer of Mötley Crüe. The album is largely made up of covers of 1970s rock songs, with only a couple of original tracks thrown in: the title track "Tattoos & Tequila" (written by Marti Frederiksen) which was released as the first single, and "Another Bad Day" (written by Nikki Sixx, James Michael and Tracii Guns). Neil has stated: "This album has nothing to do with Motley Crue, Tattoos and Tequila is basically my life".
Though Michael Feinstein remained in the public eye throughout the latter half of the 2010s, performing live and appearing intermittently as a presenter on the Turner Classic Movies network, the onetime Ira Gershwin archivist went nearly a decade without releasing any albums. It was his first gap of more than two years since his 1987 studio debut, Pure Gershwin. He comes back to key influences George and Ira Gershwin, for more than the first time, on his return, 2022's Gershwin Country. A set of 11 duets, each with different guests, it navigates timeless romantic ballads and what prove to be playfully old-fashioned, vaudeville-esque takes with giants of country music (and one with album executive producer Liza Minnelli).
After years of struggle with Fantasy Records, Vince Guaraldi finally extricated himself from his contract. In 1968, he signed with Warner Bros.' Seven Arts imprint. All three Seven Arts albums and four bonus tracks are included in this double set from Omnivore, representing the final sides Guaraldi cut for a major during his lifetime.
Austin-based pianist, composer, singer and producer Sean Michael Giddings has had a wide-ranging career since moving through the University of North Texas 1:00 Lab Band a decade ago. Tours with pop icon Christopher Cross, country star Pat Green, or virtuoso guitarist Eric Johnson offer a deep musical well to draw from when expressing his own songwriting voice or with this, his debut piano trio album. His compositions and musical touch evoke major influences such as Vince Guaraldi, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau, while the central Texas setting of his home recording studio—with the Baldwin baby grand that's been with him since childhood—add a patient, comfortable embrace to the session. With the calypso-esque "Sebastian," or the '70s Jarrett-influenced "First Cup," Giddings's longtime collaborators bassist Sam Pankey and drummer Daniel Dufour propel and support, while the moving ballad, "In the Light of the Unfinished Moon," personifies the sound of deep musical connection.
