Altar Records is happy to release Mina's debut chillout album. Mina became a mom lately, so it was a natural step for her to start to make a full length album that relax the senses and fill up the space around her with peace, harmony and stillness. Being also a producer and singer, surrounded by a Serbian family of well-known musicians (Bojan her husband as Ascent, Branko her brother-in-law as Argus and of course Gradimir, her father-in-law as Norma Project), she has the privilege to do a lot of collaborations and to craft a lot of amazing electronic music at the family studios. So today Mina is inviting us into her own world of light and revelations.

Le migliori is an album by Italian singers Mina and Adriano Celentano, issued on November 11, 2016. The first single Amami Amami was released on October 21, 2016. In March of 2015, rumors began of another collaboration between Adriano Celentano and Mina, especially after the message he posted on his blog to congratulate her on her 75th birthday. In the following months these rumors became more pervasive until it was officially confirmed on October 20, 2015 that the two artists would indeed be releasing an album of new songs together. At the time of the original announcement, the album was scheduled to be released in the spring of 2016. Eighteen years after their extremely successful first album of duets, Mina Celentano, these two legends of Italian music once again were working together. As reported by the Corriere della Sera, recording would begin in early summer 2015 and would take place in both Adriano Celentano’s studio in Galbiate and Mina’s studio in Lugano. The official release date of Le Migliori was finally set for November 11, 2016.

How do we even measure time? It is sometimes said that time is as old as humankind, but of course it isn’t. It’s just something we created out of a need for… what exactly? Earliest known evidence suggests we were measuring time already 5000 years ago. That way we could create predictability, for example concerning planting and harvesting. From there on we could more easily schedule and organize, which then helped us building a more sustainable life. When we had found a mutual understanding of what we would call time then other systems could be developed, kind of like a third-party software. Music notation works as a fine example.

In the album, Mina covers 12 standards of American music, originally published between 1930 ("Just a Gigolo") and 1970 ("Fire and Rain"). Among the others, she sings "Everything Happens to Me" for the third time (previously recorded in 1964 for the album Mina and in 1993 for Lochness) and "Love Me Tender" for the second time (previously covered for the 1991 album Caterpillar).

Pure pop magic from the lovely Mina – a very weird little record in which she takes on a host of mid-period tracks by The Beatles! The sound is as offbeat as the cover's take on Revolver – kind of a cross between late 60s Beatles, and early 70s Italian – trippy at points, but kind of sweetly poppy at others. And we can't tell for sure from the notes, but the album appears as if it might collect tunes from a number of different periods – although it comes across with a very unified feel overall. Titles include "Let It Be", "Fool On The Hill", "She's Leaving Home", and "Hey Jude" – plus versions of "My Love" and "Oh Darling".
