The blues recording industry began in New York City and for most of the 1920s, musicians travelled from all parts of the country to make their mark in the recording studio. Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey were amongst the most popular female singers but they were soon rivaled by the likes of Lonnie Johnson, Robert ‘Barbecue Bob’ Hicks, Texas Alexander and Mississippi John Hurt. Kansas Joe McCoy cut ‘When The Levee Breaks’, justly famous in its Led Zeppelin incarnation, in the city.

This compilation and 10th release from Larry Miller features tracks recorded over the last 10 years. There are three previously unreleased songs and the remaining tracks taken from five previous CDs, have all been remixed by Larrys long term sound engineer and co producer Neil Sadler at No Machine Studios, Wokingham, Berkshire. Larry chose the songs to highlight different sides of his song writing and guitar skills and to show that hes not just an in yer face blues rocker. Following Larry Millers stroke in August 2015, there are a lot of fans waiting for a new release and to be able to help Larry by buying his CDs. Larry continues to improve and hopes to be back on stage in the autumn winter 2016.

After a rather lukewarm outing on his own label in 2011 Cadillac Jack , Mighty Mo Rodgers is back in great form on this new Dixie Frog release. The theme, like the majority - if not all- of his CDs is about racial injustice in the US, which Mr. Rodgers is able to present in a form that maintains his topical and relevant message without alienating the listener -a very unique talent. Mr Rodgers is one of a kind with his Blue Thumb CD Blues Is My Wailin Wall an essential part of any blues collection.
