Two of our greatest educational theorists, John Dewey and Nel Noddings, have been reluctant to admit that some students are simply more talented than others. This was no doubt due to their feeling that such an admission was inconsistent with democratic concern for everyone.

China enjoys a splendid ancient culture, which is inseparable from the role of cultural transmission played by the country’s system of education. As a nation that attaches great importance to education, China possesses an abundance of educational thought throughout its long history.

This book demonstrates the value of approaching education from a sociological and philosophical perspective.
