Loris, scrittore di gialli devastato dalla fine del suo matrimonio e in preda a una crisi esistenziale e creativa, ha deciso di trascorrere un po' di tempo nella sua residenza al mare con un intento ben preciso: dimenticare sua moglie e scrivere l'ultimo capitolo della saga che lo ha reso famoso. Ma ogni buon proposito viene presto sbaragliato da una serie di misteriose circostanze e dal sospetto di intrusioni di oscure presenze, che si lasciano dietro solo un acre odore di pipa e alcuni messaggi indecifrabili. Loris scivola così in un vortice di depressione e paranoia, fino allo scontro con l'uomo misterioso responsabile della congiura ordita ai suoi danni…

MCM Records was founded by a French woman, Marcelle Chailleux Morgantini, after she heard the blues live in the clubs during a trip to Chicago. She returned to Chicago with a tape machine, a small mixing board, and a good selection of microphones in 1975, 1976, and 1977, capturing a very specific time in the history of Chicago blues, recording live sets by Magic Slim, Eddie Clearwater, Eddie Taylor, Bobby King, Jimmy Johnson, Willie Kent, James Lyons, Joe Carter, Jimmy Dawkins, and others, and then issuing them on her own MCM imprint. All of these sessions are collected here, capturing a late Golden Age for Chicago blues.

During its classic period, jazz saw the emergence of numerous regular small formations which successfully encouraged improvisation, enabling their best soloists a freedom of expression without any of the constraints of a big band.
