Alligator Records is pleased to announce the signing of famed Chicago-based blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Nick Moss. The Nick Moss Band Featuring Dennis Gruenling will release their label debut, The High Cost Of Low Living, in March 2018. Nick Moss is a bona fide bluesman to his soul with 12 solo releases to his credit, ranging from straight ahead Chicago blues to experimental blues-rock. The new album is a return to the classic Chicago blues ensemble sound Moss knows, lives and loves. But it's no re-creation of old songs. Moss wrote nine memorable new originals and Gruenling wrote two, all rooted in the blues tradition.

‘The High Cost Of Low Living’ is no recycling of old songs. Moss wrote eight memorable new originals and Gruenling wrote two, all deeply rooted in the blues tradition with a touch of old school rock ‘n’ roll. Produced by guitarist Kid Andersen and Moss and recorded at Rancho de Rhythm in Elgin, Illinois, the album is a joyous sonic blast of pure blues power.

In 2009 voegde gitarist Michiel Stam zich bij de band. Begin 2013 werd bassist Jasper Verhulst vervangen door Koen van de Wardt. Het debuutalbum, genaamd The Long Way Back, werd in 2007 uitgebracht. De productie hiervan werd verzorgd door Frans Hagenaars. Dorleijn nam drie jaar de tijd voor het schrijven van de muziek. Bij het nummer "Winter in Finland" werd Moss bijgestaan door zangeres Julia P. De muziek van dit album werd in recensies omschreven als "ambachtelijke gitaarmuziek".

Barricade, a song about the emotional stranglehold of obsessive relationships, features a steady drone that Moss likens to the sensation of falling, while its chorus suggests that boundaries are sometimes the only way to avoid feeling trapped. Silver and Gold and the album’s spiritual centerpiece Bodyintoshapes are powerful showcases of Moss’ newly incisive wordplay. And while July 4 details the ways we often run and hide from our pain, the act of writing these songs was anything but a retreat.

De bandleden werden geïnspireerd tot het schrijven van dit album door o.a een optreden van de Amerikaanse rockband The Brian Jonestown Massacre en een daarop aansluitend verblijf in de Engelse graafschap Essex. De muziek van Never Be Scared… neigt meer naar alternatieve rock en psychedelica dan de voorganger.

De eerste single van dit album is getiteld 'What You Want' en is voor het eerst te beluisteren in 3voor12-radio op 2 januari 2012.

Het nieuwe album van Moss heet We Both Know The Rest Is Noise en komt op 21 februari uit. De eerste single, She's Got a Secret, ging gisteravond in premiere op 3FM bij 3voor12 Radio en is vanaf nu gratis te downloaden via Excelsior Recordings en te streamen via YouTube. De muziek doet een nieuw hervonden optimisme vermoeden na het donkerdere album Ornaments. We Both Know The Rest Is Noise heeft de originaliteits- en experimenteerdrift waar Ornaments om is geprezen gecombineerd met de frisheid en het songwriters-vakmanschap van doorbraak album Never Be Scared / Don't Be a Hero.
