Using the latest computer graphics and technology, viewers witness the combat equipment design, tactics and strategy of conducting a battle. Rare newsreel shots and the reconstruction of the events allow viewers to feel they are being transported back to the battlegroud, allowing them to see war through a soldier's eyes.

The BBC version of Life arrives with an at-times breathtaking, altogether stunning 1080p/VC-1 transfer; one that boasts gorgeous colors and remarkable detail, and puts most other nature documentary presentations to shame. Still, comparisons to the series' 1080i Discovery Channel release are the most inevitable and the most unavoidable. Simply put, the differences between the two aren't earth shattering – in some instances, our beloved little "p" may as well stand for "placebo" – but they are notable. There are plenty of scenes and shots in which the tiniest strands of animal hair are crisper, distant foliage is more refined, and the craggly crevices of rocky ravines are more revealing.

Great British Railway Journeys is a documentary television series on BBC Two hosted by Michael Portillo, where he travels around the United Kingdom, with a primary emphasis on Great Britain. This season, its 7th, features 20 episodes total, 30 minutes each. A higher quality version may also be made available, for those who prefer that.

David Pratt has been visiting Afghanistan since the mid-1980s, when he was a recent graduate of Glasgow School of Art. Working for various news organisations, he crossed the border into Afghanistan from Peshawar in Pakistan in disguise and travelled for long periods with a group of Mujahideen. He witnessed their intense guerrilla struggle against the occupying Soviet Red Army and learned the hard way how to survive in gruelling circumstances in the remote mountains of Afghanistan, as well as how to get his pictures out to the world.
