Influenced by the likes of stoner, spacerock and psychedelics, three-man formation Mantra Machine is set out to reach new audiences with a mix of heavy guitars, shimmering bass and grooving drums, soaked in "mantra style" instrumental synth soundscapes. In December 2014 they recorded and released a first full-length album called "Nitrogen". The album received many positive reviews and was picked up worldwide by various blogs and music sites. In 2019 a second album "Heliosphere" was released on which the instrumental journey into the unknown continues with room for new sounds, drawn-out compositions and unexpected turns.
As with many of the composers works, live instruments are combined with electronics in Karlheinz Stockhausens Mantra. Written in 1970, the work is scored for two ring-modulated pianos. Each player is also equipped with a chromatic set of crotales (antique cymbals) and a wood block. A short-wave radio producing morse code or a magnetic tape recording of morse code can either be controlled by one of the pianists or by a separate performer. Mantra was written for the great piano duo of Alfons and Aloys Kontarsky. The pianists performed at the works premiere and on its first recording in 1971 for Deutsche Grammophon. This exciting new recording from Mirare features pianists Jean-Francois Heisser and Jean-Frederic Neuburger, accompanied by Serge Lemouton on electronics.
Karlheinz Stockhausen was one of the most significant composers of the late 20th century, a contemporary of Boulez and Berio, successor to Webern, pioneer of electroaccoustic music and a wholly original voice in modern music. Composed in 1970, Mantra is one of his most fascinating scores and a significant step towards developing the formula technique that dominated his subsequent music, in particular the opera cycle, Licht, which occupied him for some 30 years. Unlike much of his music to that point, which required its performers to realise the score (a sort of semi-improvisation), it is largely through-composed (that is annotated precisely by the composer), combining accoustic instruments (two pianos) and electronics.
Mantra - Words of Power (2000). Mesmeric ethnic percussion interweaves with smooth orchestral textures to provide the perfect musical framework for this collection of "Mantra chants". Mantra - Words of Power is specifically designed to provide the perfect atmosphere for deep relaxation and spiritual enrichment. Sounds have vibrational energy and for every word we speak in our daily lives we create an invocation or decree: a Mantra for the enrichment of our lives - a word of power…
