This is called the first Soviet science fiction film because of its "futuristic" sets on Mars, although most of it takes place in Moscow. The movie is set at the beginning of the NEP (New Economic Policy) in December, 1921. A mysterious radio message is beamed around the world, and among the engineers who receive it are Los, the hero, and his colleague Spiridonov. Los is an individualist dreamer. Aelita is the daughter of Tuskub, the ruler of a totalitarian state on Mars in which the working classe are put into cold storage when they are not needed. With a telescope, Aelita is able to watch Los. As if by telepathy, Los obsesses about being watched by her…..

Julio Medem's Room in Rome reminded me about Chilean director Matias Bize's wonderful En la cama (In Bed). In Bize's film a man and a woman meet in a bar and then spend the night together in a rundown motel. They make love, talk about their lives, most intimate desires and darkest secrets. In the morning, they part ways.

At the beginning of the film, Kabir (Abhay Deol) proposes to Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). Their families meet at the engagement party. At the party, Natasha learns that Kabir is planning a three-week bachelor road trip to Spain with his school friends Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan). Kabir explains that the three have a long-standing pact, and that during the road trip, each of them will have to pick an adventure sport, which all three will try together. Initially, Arjun is reluctant to take part in the trip due to his workaholism and obsession with money. It is later revealed that Arjun's ex-girlfriend left him due to this reason. Imraan has an additional personal agenda on the trip—to find his biological father Salman Habib (Naseeruddin Shah), an artist in Spain.

It seems innocent enough. Struggling young artist Daniel King is invited by his childhood friend Natasha, back to the coastal village where they grew up. Natasha has even offered him the use of a house that she has recently acquired. Daniel readily accepts, bringing brushes and unenthusiastic fiancee Laura with him. The moment that the couple reach the house, Daniel races off to meet Natasha, leaving Laura to settle in on her own. But something is not quite right…
