Rock 'n' Roll Telephone is the twenty-third album by Scottish rock band Nazareth, released in June 2014 by Union Square Music. It is their last album with original singer Dan McCafferty who left the group before its release…
After pursuing a Rolling Stones-styled blend of rock and country elements on their first two albums, Nazareth segued into a harder rocking style with 1973's Razamanaz. The resulting album has a lot of energy and drive and much of this can be credited to Roger Glover's production, which tempers the group's tendency to experiment with different musical styles by imposing an overall sound that play's up the group's hard rock edge. The end result is an album that rocks consistently throughout but works in intriguing musical elements to keep things interesting.

Scotland's premier hard rock band, Nazareth have now been in the business for over 50 years. This triple-disc Ultimate Collection celebrates their incredible recorded legacy. Disc one examines their first half of the 1970s, taking in UK top ten hits Broken Down Angel and Bad Bad Boy along with the massive ballad Love Hurts, which reached the US top ten in 1975 before going on to be featured in dozens of films since, including Wayne's World, This Is Spinal Tap, The Full Monty and High Fidelity. The second disc covers selections from five studio albums from 1976 to 1981, and brings in more hits, among them May The Sunshine. Disc three continues the story through the 80s, 90s and into the twenty-first century, showcasing two tracks from the final album recorded with longtime lead singer Dan McCafferty in 2014. For fans, The Ultimate Collection is an excellent precis of Nazareth's brilliant career. For those coming to the band for the first time, this is the best place to start.
Nazareth's second album of 1974 finds the group tempering the four-on-the-floor hard rock attack they developed on Loud and Proud by working a surprising and effective Southern rock edge into the songs. The end result is an album that sounds like a crossbreeding of early AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd at their hardest rocking. Some of the country-tinged highlights include "Glad When You're Gone," a funny kissoff to an unwanted lover that pairs hillbilly-styled singing with wah-wah-drenched guitar riffs, and "Jet Lag," a tongue-in-cheek look at life as a touring rock & roller that is driven by some.
IT'SNAZ is a double live album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in late 1981. The full album title is It's Naz but the artwork spread the title, in block-capitals, fully over the outside of the gatefold-sleeve: when not opened only 'S NAZ is visible on the front. The back of the original album cover includes the letters "I" and "T" causing many to misinterpret the title of the album as "'Snaz" which is incorrect. That no space was left between the 'S' and 'NAZ' seems deliberate, as contemporary adverts for the album in the music press write it as IT'SNAZ. The band's official website gives the title as It's Naz.
