Born as a result of the artistic and social movement that resulted in the psychedelic revolution of the mid-60s, the "progressive sound" defied the conventions of the music industry, with extended songs and ambitious song structures, with influences ranging from blues and rock to jazz and classical music. The Progressive Box is a phenomenal work that features all the genre's key artists (Yes, Genesis, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Rick Wakeman, King Crimson, Alan Parsons, Focus) and cult figures that still fascinate millions of followers worldwide (Soft Machine, Van Der Graaf Generator, Magma, The Nice, Caravan, Gong, Hawkwind, Can, Tangerine Dream, Brainticket, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Banco Del Soccorso Mutio, Fairport Convention, Affinity, Carmen, Atomic Rooster, Third Ear Band, Brand X, Steve Hillage, Curved Air, Greenslade, etc). With a stunning cover art and remastered sound, The Progressive Box is an essential album for fans of any kind of music.
VISION FIELDS are for sure one of the most sought-after AOR band from Germany as they released some top rated albums so far. “Icesail” is their 1992-release and it contains again a brilliant mix of atmospheric Westcoast and catchy Hi-tech AOR. It starts with the super smooth “Mother Earth”, that offers big carpet of keyboards, tasty guitar fills and such a great chorus.
This was mainly a project between the German producer Peter Hauke and the singer Johan Daansen from the Netherlands. Tony Carey was involved in songwriting and producing the first album. They sound a little bit like Pink Floyd, Chris Rea, Shatoo, and others… Very relaxing and melodic hi-tech AOR with some touches of ambiental music!!!
Very Rare German Hi-Tech AOR / AOR Masterpiece!! Another fine album from Vision Fields, the title track is excellent and has a haunting kind of air about it. Great hi tech AOR with a mellow feel you won't be getting your air guitar out much but that isn't a put down as the album is excellent.
Barclay James Harvest was, for its first few years, one of the real hard-luck outfits in the field of progressive rock and art rock. Though the group later enjoyed considerable success in Europe with the Polygram label, its first five years on EMI were littered with gorgeous songs that somehow never sold the way they should have. Perhaps it was just that they had too much musicianship and not enough personality; they were indeed, in some respects, "poor man's Moody Blues," John Lees and Les Holroyd being less charismatic than that rival group's Justin Hayward and John Lodge. This 1992 concert from the Town and Country in London is a fair if way-too-short account of who and what they were, 25 years into their history…
