Like translations of a shared subconscious, 1996's On Avery Island and 1998's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea give voice to the perennial spirit of youthful epiphany, of beginning to see the world clearly, to process and express it- no matter when you encounter them. With lo-fi indie rock, accordion, singing saw, tape collages, the so-called "zanzithophone" and beyond, Neutral Milk Hotel created an eternal entry into their Elephant 6 scene and an enduring feeling of possibility.

Summer season 2021 has begun! Not often before people have wished for a summer to begin as eagerly as this year. But now the time has finally come - the days are longer, the nights warmer and the general mood is joyful and full of expectations. With all these positive feelings, the longing for sandy beaches lined with palm trees, the sight of lively people on pool loungers with a cocktail in their hands and the scent of coconut oil and suntan lotion in the air gets bigger every day. With the current edition of their “Beach Sessions” compilation series, Milk & Sugar offer the perfect soundtrack on this occasion, immersing the listener in the feeling of sun on their skin and sand between their toes.

Merge continues its 20th anniversary festivities with a comp of non-label artists– Bright Eyes, Shins, New Pornos– covering songs from its catalog.
Merge Records doesn't look its age. Originally formed as an outlet for Superchunk material, the Durham, N.C.-based label has grown into an indie institution, but only gradually– year by year, release by release. It never allied itself with a scene or a sound, so the mind doesn't automatically tether it to a specific place or time, the way Sub Pop, despite its strong roster this decade, will be most closely associated with Seattle in the late 1980s and early 90s. So it's hard to believe Merge is already 20 years old, an occasion the label is marking with a big birthday bash– the five-day XX Merge fest in July– and a subscription-only series of commemorative retrospectives and remixes. Perhaps the most intriguing party favor is Score! Twenty Years of Merge Records: The Covers, a choppy but oddly endearing compilation that enlists 20 non-Merge acts to cover Merge songs.

England's Mungo Jerry were a British blues, skiffle, and jug band that sounded a bit like Canned Heat crossed with the Lovin' Spoonful, and the group's big international hit, 1970's "In the Summertime," written and sung by Ray Dorset, who still tours with various musicians as Mungo Jerry in the 21st century, is an oldies station staple – it's difficult to imagine getting through a summer anywhere without hearing it played someplace. The group did manage a few more hits in Britain, but "In the Summertime" is the band's gold standard. This set collects all of Mungo Jerry's singles, both A- and B-sides, for the Pye Records imprint Dawn Records, as well as the group's various EPs, and it reveals an extremely versatile outfit with tracks ranging from the signature "In the Summertime" (and the later "Summer's Gone," an obvious attempt to catch "In the Summertime" lightning in a bottle all over again) to the hard garage stomp of "Baby Jump," the straight-ahead rock of "Glad I'm a Rocker," the rockabilly "Too Fast to Live and Too Young to Die," and a fine, energetic, and wonderfully ragged version of the old blues tune "Milk Cow Blues." So there's more to Mungo Jerry than just "In the Summertime," and this set shows that clearly, but it's just one of those songs everybody has to live with, which isn't so bad – unless it's winter.

Above the album worked the 'Anthony Willis - What Happened to Jones (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) ', and his release took place on 2021. The album has got songs with a total duration of more than an hour. A compilation is a compilation of original music.
