David Darling’s Other Worlds is a unique New Age album that includes his signature pizzicato, vocalizations, solo and choir cellos; while exploring new canvases of piano, electronic music and percussion, expanded with additional soloists. Composer Silvia Nakkach and maverick cellist-composer David Darling beckon us on this lyrical, tender, and soulful journey with In Love and Longing. Nakkach awakens the heart through lyrical vocalizations inspired by her lifetime devotion to spiritual melodicism and new music, while Darling's solo and cello ensemble music draws us into this journey of deep listening in a series of sensitive musical dialogues that invite us to feel, travel fantastic landscapes, and receive from the full depths of the heart.

It's hard to know just what to call this music. Is it classical? Pop? Some extremely pleasant strain of the avant-garde? David Darling is a cellist, and on Dark Wood he plays all the parts, multitracking himself playing in various registers and alternating between bowing and pizzicato techniques. The program consists of four suites, titled "Darkwood IV" through "Darkwood VII." (One would like to think that somewhere there exist "Darkwood I-III" and perhaps "VIII-X," but it's hard to give Darling the benefit of the doubt when, in place of any explanatory notes, the insert pamphlet contains a Gerry Lopez short story.

The Recording Academy has announced the 2024 nominees for the Grammy awards in 91 categories. In the category New Age/Ambient/Chant Hans Christian’s latest CD release Ocean Dreaming Ocean (CurveBlue Records) was nominated for a Grammy, along with four other nominees, out of over 175 entries. The 66th annual Grammy Awards will take place February 4th, 2024 where the winner will be announced.

David Darling is a Grammy Award winning Cellist/Composer/Teacher. His most recent recording, Prayer For Compassion, won the Grammy Award for best album in 2010. He founded Music For People, an internationally recognized organization, facilitating workshops to help all people experience the joy of music.
