Nonlinear Dynamics in Biological Systems

This second of three volumes from the inaugural NODYCON, held at the University of Rome, in February of 2019, presents papers devoted to Nonlinear Dynamics and Control. The collection features both well-established streams of research as well as novel areas and emerging fields of investigation. Topics in Volume II include influence of nonlinearities on vibration control systems; passive, semi-active, active control of structures and systems; synchronization; robotics and human-machine interaction; network dynamics control (multi-agent systems, leader-follower dynamics, swarm dynamics, biological networks dynamics); and fractional-order control.

The past two decades have witnessed an explosion of ideas in the general ?eld of nonlinear dynamics. In fact, it has become increasingly clear that areas as diverse as signal processing, lasers, molecular motors, and biomedical anomalies have a c- mon underlying thread: the dynamics that underpin these systems are inh- ently nonlinear. Yet, while there has been signi?cant progress in the theory of nonlinear phenomena under an assortment of system boundary conditions andpreparations,thereexistcomparativelyfewdevicesthatactuallytakethis rich behavior into account.

Nonlinear Dynamics and Complex Systems describes chaos, fractal, and stochasticities within celestial mechanics, financial systems, and biochemical systems. Part I discusses methods and applications in celestial systems and new results in such areas as low energy impact dynamics, low-thrust planar trajectories to the moon and earth-to-halo transfers in the sun, earth and moon.
