Upper Bounds for Grothendieck Constants, Quantum Correlation Matrices and CCP Functions

Upper Bounds for Grothendieck Constants, Quantum Correlation Matrices and CCP Functions by Frank Oertel
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 238 Pages | ISBN : 3031572009 | 32.1 MB

This book concentrates on the famous Grothendieck inequality and the continued search for the still unknown best possible value of the real and complex Grothendieck constant (an open problem since 1953). It describes in detail the state of the art in research on this fundamental inequality, including Krivine's recent contributions, and sheds light on related questions in mathematics, physics and computer science, particularly with respect to the foundations of quantum theory and quantum information theory. Unifying the real and complex cases as much as possible, the monograph introduces the reader to a rich collection of results in functional analysis and probability. In particular, it includes a detailed, self-contained analysis of the multivariate distribution of complex Gaussian random vectors. The notion of Completely Correlation Preserving (CCP) functions plays a particularly important role in the exposition.

Problems from the Discrete to the Continuous: Probability, Number Theory, Graph Theory, and Combinatorics

Problems from the Discrete to the Continuous: Probability, Number Theory, Graph Theory, and Combinatorics by Ross Pinsky
English | 2014 | ISBN: 3319079646 | 154 pages | PDF | 1,7 MB

The primary intent of the book is to introduce an array of beautiful problems in a variety of subjects quickly, pithily and completely rigorously to graduate students and advanced undergraduates. The book takes a number of specific problems and solves them, the needed tools developed along the way in the context of the particular problems.

Number Theory Volume I: Tools and Diophantine Equations

Number Theory Volume I: Tools and Diophantine Equations by Henri Cohen
English | PDF (True) | 2007 | 673 Pages | ISBN : 0387499229 | 5.2 MB

The central theme of this graduate-level number theory textbook is the solution of Diophantine equations, i.e., equations or systems of polynomial equations which must be solved in integers, rational numbers or more generally in algebraic numbers. This theme, in particular, is the central motivation for the modern theory of arithmetic algebraic geometry. In this text, this is considered through three aspects.

Authors: Borthwick, David
Provides an accessible introduction to geometric scattering theory and the theory of resonances
Discusses important developments such as resonance counting, analysis of the Selberg zeta function, and the Poisson formula
New chapters cover resolvent estimates, wave propagation, and Naud’s proof of a spectral gap for convex hyperbolic surfaces
Makes use of new techniques for resonance plotting that more clearly illustrate existing results of resonance distribution

Problems and Theorems in Analysis II: Theory of Functions. Zeros. Polynomials. Determinants. Number Theory. Geometry (Classics in Mathematics) by George Polya, Gabor Szegö and C.E. Billigheimer

Few mathematical books are worth translating 50 years after original publication. Polyá-Szegö is one! It was published in German in 1924, and its English edition was widely acclaimed when it appeared in 1972. In the past, more of the leading mathematicians proposed and solved problems than today. Their collection of the best in analysis is a heritage of lasting value.
