This album showcases recordings by two major violinists of the mid-20th century, Josef Hassid (1923–50) and Ida Haendel (1923/8*–2020). Both were from similar backgrounds, born in Poland of Jewish descent in the 1920s, and both had their first major successes in London in the late 1930s. Their recordings also document an important shared influence, the teaching of Carl Flesch (1873–1944). Flesch was a major virtuoso of the previous generation, but who made relatively few recordings (Ed: 1905-36 Odeon, Edison, Electrola, DGG).

As “the pianist, who came in from the Cold” Sergey Tanin became well-known for the European audience after the documentary about his life path was released by the Swiss television (SRF). The international career of Sergey started in 2018 at the Geza Anda Competition, where he became laureate and the Audience Prizewinner for his interpretation of J. Brahms´ first piano concerto with Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.

Inho Jeong studied at Seoul National University, where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree after receiving his bachelor’s in 2017. He also completed the Professional Course at the Opera Studio at the Korea National Opera. He has trained under Attila Jun, David Junghoon Kim, and Jongmin Park.

The 23-year-old mezzo-soprano from Toulouse, Juliette Mey won the 6th prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium. During the 2023 final which took place on Thursday 1 June in Brussels.
