Lau (Tony Leung), a young Hong Kong cop, is severely wounded in the line of duty. At the hospital, he meets a dying girl, Kwan (Cho Eun Sook), and it is love at first sight for Lau, who is determined to investigate the case upon finding out that Kwan committed suicide. His investigations soon take him to an old temple where he finds himself involved in a dangerous rescue operation. During the rescue attempt, the temple roof collapses and both heroes and villains find themselves transported back in time to the era of the Three Kingdoms…
