Olafur Arnalds' third album, "For Now I Am Winter", is an exemplary suite of Icelandic music, blending American minimalist techniques with European sensibilities. Arnalds is poised to be one of the year’s biggest breakthrough artists. The recording blends contemporary classical with multiple instrumental layers and vocals. It includes the hit singles “Old Skin,” “This Place Was A Shelter” and “Only The Winds”.

Made in collaboration with BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds, this versatile, multidimensional tool bends space and time through an intricate network of polyrhythmic piano performances.

Award-winning young Icelandic pop/classical musician Ólafur Arnalds uses a radical new approach to recording the music of Chopin. Arnalds developed an intimate, fragile and often charmingly imperfect sound using old/unusual/altered pianos captured on vintage recording equipment and various mixing techniques to re-enforce feelings of solitude or loneliness, and to create dreamlike ambient soundscapes. Pianist Alice Sara Ott joins and Ólafur has composed new works to link the album together.

Following its initial release in 2007 and coinciding with Ólafur’s 30th birthday, label founder Robert Raths gifted the chance for this record to shine a second time.

Olafur Arnalds new album, some kind of peace is his most revealing and vulnerable work to date and features Bonobo, Josin and JFDR. Within, you'll find a self-confessed perfectionist grappling with the messier realities of everyday life: the possibilities of love, of settling down, and how to navigate all of that during a global pandemic (the album was half-written prior to lockdown, and completed at Arnalds' harbour studio in downtown Reykjavik). What's emerged on some kind of peace is a record about letting your guard down, and ultimately what it means to be alive.
