Un uomo e una donna, di religione musulmana e provenienti dal Nord Africa, hanno appena raggiunto illegalmente la costa italiana, ma entrambi sono diretti verso altri paesi europei per coronare il sogno di una vita migliore. I due, però, poco dopo essersi appena conosciuti, si ritrovano per caso a viaggiare insieme al seguito di un'improbabile band salentina in tour che ha deciso di aiutarli a raggiungere la Francia ma solo perché li hanno scambiati per una coppia in difficoltà e in attesa di un figlio.

Zatoichi promises to deliver a maiden safely home but finds two dangerous gangs have a mysterious interest in the young girl.

Blind swordsman/masseuer Ichi (or "Zatoichi") is asked by a dying man to deliver the maiden Mitsu (or "Omitsu") to her family in Edo, and Zatoichi feels honor-bound to do so. But rival gangs each have an interest in kidnapping the girl for ransom. Zatoichi joins with one of the gangs when the other gang captures Mitsu, but he then finds that to rescue her, he must fight both gangs.

Film is set in the winter of 1942 during the Nazi occupation of Russia in WWII. Partisan guerrillas, headed by Ivan Lokotkov, are testing the POW Lazarev, who briefly collaborated with the Nazis for survival. Lazarev is not executed, but instead he is given a chance to prove his loyalty. He has to go back to the Nazi controlled railway station, where everyone knows him, and to hijack a train with food supplies. Lazarev proves himself a hero.
