The London Philharmonic Orchestra is lead by Reinhard Linz to perform a programme of Marches from the Opera! The collection comes courtesy of Countdown Media's restoration of the master tapes from renowned legacy label, Ashire/Somerset.

After the success of Officina Romana (awarded 5 Diapasons, 5 stars in Musica , and selected amongst the best albums in Le Monde in 2021), Le Stagioni, under the direction of Paolo Zanzu, invites the listener on a journey through 17th-century Venice in the company of outstanding singers: Emmanuelle de Negri, Blandine Staskiewicz, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Zachary Wilder and Salvo Vitale. From 1637 to 1645, between the opening of the first public opera houses and the start of the Cretan War, Venice witnessed a musical blossoming of international significance.

A native of Italy, Paola Baron received her Master’s Degree with highest honors from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Sarah O’Brien. She has also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérior de Musique in Lyon with Fabrice Pierre.

Who was better suited than Maria Callas to assume such a role? La Gioconda, the only opera by Ponchielli that has not fallen into neglect, is a stunning transitional work between Verdian romanticism and verismo. La Divina particularly liked this opera.

Actually, she had ended her career in 1941 after her marriage, but in 1951, at the express request of Francesco Cilea, she took on the title role in his opera Adriana Lecouvreur.
