Starting with the grand and widely celebrated debut album “A coming Storm”, continuing with the even more enthralling “Kings Will Fall” and culminating in the hitherto climax in form of the concept album (and debut for Noise Art) “Cathyron”, WINTERSTORM easily made their name known, extravagating all genre borders. In this release AVID pay tribute to the recently departed harmonica player, guitarist and whistler and one of Belgium greatest exports (along with Jacques Brel, Django Reinhardt, Tin Tin and Hercule Poirot ), Toots Thielemans who died on August 22nd 2016. Starting out playing the accordion at age 3, Toots became attracted to jazz during the German occupation of Belgium in 1940. He began by teaching himself guitar listening to recordings by fellow Belgian, the extraordinary guitarist Django Reinhardt. By 1949 he was playing guitar in Paris with Sidney Bechet, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis.

A spicy mix of rarities, alternates and previously unissued R&B goodies from South Louisiana and S.E. Texas, where you are never too far from a bayou and some good rockin’ music. This 15th compilation in the “By The Bayou” series takes us back to the R&B sounds you would have heard belting out of a Louisiana juke joint on a steamy night in the 1950s or early 1960s. All of the tracks included were recorded in that party state, although some of the artists were based in Texas, crossing the state line to make music in studios based in Crowley and Lake Charles.

Packaged in a tri-fold digipack, includes a bonus CD compiling live recordings previously issued on Slush Fund (2001) and Syd's Pink Wiring System (2003). 2001’s Getaway may be the best illustration of whatever mercurial, inexplicable musical power animates The Clean. After the band’s initial rush of activity between 1978 and 1982, the trio lay dormant until the end of the ’80s, when a string of reunion shows inspired the Kilgours and Scott to start recording again. After three well-received albums in the first half of the nineties 1990’s Vehicle, 1994’s Modern Rock, and 1996’s Unknown Country The Clean disappeared again until the end of the decade, when another tour inspired another record. While playing gigs across New Zealand in celebration of their original label Flying Nun, David says they brought along a TEAC 4-track quarter-inch tape machine. “As usual, we started jamming and recording, and before you know, we thought we may be onto an LP.” Speed and spontaneity ended up defining Getaway.
