Hot Rocks covers most of the monster hits from the Stones' first decade that remained in radio rotation for decades to come. More Hot Rocks goes for the somewhat smaller hits, some of the better album tracks, and a whole LP side's worth of rarities that hadn't yet been available in the United States when this compilation was released in 1972. The material isn't as famous as what's on Hot Rocks, but the music is almost as excellent, including such vital cuts as "Not Fade Away," "It's All Over Now," "The Last Time," "Lady Jane," the psychedelic "Dandelion," "She's a Rainbow," "Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadow?," "Out of Time," "Tell Me," and "We Love You." The eight rarities are pretty good as well, including their 1963 debut single "Come On," early R&B covers of "Fortune Teller" and "Bye Bye Johnnie," great slide guitar on Muddy Waters' "I Can't Be Satisfied," and the soulful 1966 U.K. B-side "Long Long While."

The American quartet TILES hails from Detroit. TILES has a Rush meets Extreme kind of a hard rock sound. Their debut disc was a bit on the simplistic side, but their latest music is a realm dominated by SHADOW GALLERY and ENCHANT. The music is atmospheric on a vast level and well orchestrated with lots of layers. There is a greater use of acoustic instruments (mandolin, acoustic guitar and violin) and ballad structures. They bring us further refinement in their magical blend of prog sensibility and hard-rock energy. For fans of a technical brand of semi-prog hard rock!

Robert Plant’s eleventh solo album and first full-length release since 2014’s acclaimed ‘lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar’, produced by Robert at Top Cat studio in Box, Wiltshire with additional recordings at Real World and Rockfield studios. As with ‘lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar’, Robert is accompanied by The Sensational Space Shifters and joined by a number of special guests. Chrissie Hynde joins Robert on the duet “Bluebirds Over The Mountain” (written by rockabilly legend Ersel Hickey and later recorded by both Richie Valens and The Beach Boys).

Slick and sophisticated, like a fine vintage wine, Bad Habit just seem to get better and better with age. Admittedly perhaps not the most prolific of AOR/Hard Rock exports spawned by the wonderfully vibrant scene over in Sweden, Bad Habit are nonetheless one of its more notable exponents. Debuting as long ago as 1987 with the highly collectable ‘Young And Innocent’ mini album, the ensuing 20 odd years has seen them release just four full studio albums, all of which are absolutely essential additions to any serious collection. Maybe it’s all the waiting and anticipation that adds to the mystique and intrigue that surrounds Bad Habit, but whatever it is, at the end of the day I’d be hard pushed to name even one mediocre track in their back catalogue!

The six-voice a cappella vocal ensemble, Nordic Voices, was formed a little over ten years ago to specialize in both Renaissance and Contemporary music. In this, their fifth album, they present a moving programme of renaissance Lamentations. These are settings of Old Testament verses written by the prophet Jeremiah as he witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem and the fall of Judah in 586 B.C. and, as Nordic Voices highlight in their booklet, are still of relevance today as they chart the horrors that humans are capable of inflicting on one another.

In some ways, two and a half hours of acoustic Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds seems like it would be a snore – especially since a boatload of these 27 songs range between five and nine minutes! The Dave Matthews Band can get away with such excesses as a group, but in this intimate setting on such a large stage? It's either truly wonderful or something of an exercise in intense ego run riot, right? To be fair, this is not a snore. Reynolds is a hell of a guitarist. He is not one given to random excess and never pretends to be a guitar hero – though he is.

Julie Driscoll's (now Tippetts) first move away from the blues-oriented pop of the Brian Auger band turned out to be this prophetic slab of wax that revealed her penchant to transcend the trappings of rock and pop for something more adventurous. To this end, Driscoll employed the help of many of the Canterbury scene's best-known musicians, including Carl Jenkins, Elton Dean, future husband Keith Tippetts, and guitarist Chris Spedding. The set opens with what would become an anthem for Driscoll, the horn-laden rocker "A New Awakening," in which she details the benefits of the search for new ground emotionally and mentally.

One of the last of the original wave of English punk from the late 70s, Penetration soared above the pack courtesy of the tough but tender vocals of frontwoman Pauline Murray and a willingness to experiment with pop song forms that could sometimes put them over on the “new wave” side of the fence. Thirty years after their heyday, this two-show collection spotlights the band at their very best. The second show, a 1979 gig in Newcastle, is the very one at which Murray announced their all-too-soon breakup. Classics like “Don’t Dictate” and “Money Talks” are represented in both shows.
