Steve Overland is a British singer/musician who was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the bands Wildlife, FM, The Ladder, Shadowman, and his own group, Overland.Overland's nearly 30 year career began in his home region of East Anglia, where he and his brother Chris formed the band Wildlife in 1980. The group were scouted by Adam Faith and soon signed to Chrysalis Records, who released the band's debut album, Burning, in 1980.The band moved labels to the Led Zeppelin owned Swan Song Records for their 1983 self-titled follow up album, which featured Simon Kirke on drums. The band were also managed for a short period by Peter Grant. "Diamond Dealer" is the second solo album by `FM' singer Steve Overland originally released in 2009. For those familiar with the singer's previous works, Overland is one of the pioneers of the UK AOR/melodic rock scene as the founder of "FM" in the mid 80's. Beyond Overland, the line up features guitarist Tor Talle (Northern Light) and Martin Kronlund (Gypsy Rose among others), bassist Henrik Thomsen, drummer Imre Daun and keyboardist Egil Orvedal. This is more in the vein of The Ladder than FM. This is not as heavy as the first release, this is more traditional AOR.
Steve Overland is well-known as the lead singer of the legendary AOR band of FM. With his main band Overland, he released some really great albums in the past such as "Aphrodisiac", "Tough It Out" and "Takin' It To The Streets" to name a few. The band has, also, released last year the amazing "Rockville I & II".So, nowadays, this so talented artist is back with his brand new solo album which is entitled "Epic". For this new opus, Overland collaborates with some of the biggest names of the AOR world scene such as Christian Wolff (Rob Moratti) on guitars & keyboards, Larry Antonino on bass and Jay Schellen on drums (both from Unruly Child), Mike Slamer (handling additional guitars, bass, keyboards, production and arrangement), Billy Greer (Kansas, Seventh Key), Billy Trudel (The City, Dirty White Boy) and Fredrik Bergh (Street Talk, Bloodbound) and the result is just pure melodic heaven!!
There are few singers that has got such a stand out voice that it has become its own trademark. Steve Overland are very much a man with that kind of voice, a voice that are perfect fit for the souly rock he and FM always has performed. Steve Overlands voice sounds as good as ever, the rock and soul are still the main features in his voice. And If you liked last album Double Dealer this album are yet a step closer to his main band.
Steve Overland is a legend in his own lifetime. Is there anyone out there who is not familiar with his name? He has a history that goes way back into the late seventies, his first major recording was with the band "Wildlife" in 1980. After the demise of "Wildlife" Steve went on to form the cult British melodic rock band "FM", a band that released many great albums throughout the eighties and nineties and more recently in 2013. …here is Steve's new recording "Contagious" which is better than ever before. Big production by Lars Chriss and superb song-writing are the order of the day, these latest offerings from Steve are beautifully executed and flow with finesse from beginning to end.
Groundbreaker's new album, "Soul To Soul" is once again centered around the fantastic vocal talents of Steve Overland (FM) with stunning production by Alessandro Del Vecchio…
Lonerider is a new band featuring some experienced names that sees FM vocalist team-up again with guitarist Steve Morris (they both recorded together under the Heartland name) and Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke (who played with Steve and his brother Chris’s first band Wildlife back in the early 80’s). Thunder and Tyketto bassist Chris Childs and Brian J Anthony (acoustic guitars, mandolin, percussion) complete the line-up.Every once in a while a new recording comes along with a line-up that makes your spine tingle, and here it is: "Attitude" by Lonerider. Not only does this quintet feature Steve Overland (FM, Solo, Shadowman), Steve Morris (Heartland, Shadowman) and Chris Childs (Thunder), but also legendary drummer Simon Kirke of Free and Bad Company fame. With Brain J. Anthony finishing the line-up, we have a real force to be reckoned with. What are we to expect from this group of musicians? If you like Bad Company, then this is going to be a treat for you.
After Steve Walsh retired from Kansas back in 2014 many thought that would be it and we’d hear no more from Walsh, luckily this was proven wrong and here we have a new solo album from him. Joining Walsh are Tommy Denander, who co-wrote the majority of the songs on here with Walsh, and FM’s Steve Overland adds backing vocals…
