2003 reissue of a 1984 live album from the legendary Flamenco guitarist and his group that helped modernize Flamenco and redefine for the 20th Century. "Alta Mar" was co-written with oft-time collaborator Al DiMeola.

After 18 months of 12" releases that completely blew our minds, Honest Jons finally compile their amazing lineup of Tony Allen remixes for this one mighty package. Reworkings from Basic Channel's Mark Ernestus and Mauritz Von Oswald head the lineup, with Mauritz delivering a Ten and a half minute basic channel classic, a mighty Steppers version that unfolds in textbook Rhythm & Sound style, using the deepest tools imaginable within that impossibly spacious, fuzzed-out environment that only Basic Channel ever seem to produce so effortlessly. Carl Craig, meanwhile, utilises all the dancefloor savvy and careful vocal manipulations marked out on his finest and most sought after remixes of the last few years, delivering a fierce drum edit as good as his classic remix for The Congos a few years back. We have a mighty soft spot for the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble reworking that's also featured here, we've been spinning it more or less endlessly since it was first released and everyone we play it to begs us for a copy.

The Paco de Lucía Sextet is a flamenco music sextet, formed by renowned guitarist Paco de Lucía and other musicians. The band has released three albums. In 1990 Paco de Lucia released Zyryab, an album made with his sextet and also featuring jazz pianist Chick Corea.

Hijo de Antonio Sánchez Pecino, de madre portuguesa y hermano del cantaor Pepe de Lucía. "Mi padre se iba a buscar la vida por las noches a las fiestas y siempre amanecía en casa con flamencos; mi hermano Pepe y mi hermana María también desde chiquitos han estado vinculados a este mundo. Vivíamos en La Bajadilla, un barrio muy gitano, siempre había alguien en casa cantando o tocando." Comenzó sus estudios de guitarra a los seis años. «A mi padre se lo debo todo pues me obligó a tocar desde niño cuando uno no tiene capacidad para decidir lo que quiere ser en la vida y necesitas a alguien que te empuje y te señale el camino. Eso fue lo que él hizo, entre otras cosas porque no tenía dinero para mandarme a la escuela. Tuve que buscar trabajo y llevar un sueldo a la casa».
