Alfredo de Angelis tuned his orchestra for the dancing floor and popularized Tango duets. One of the best known duets, that of Carlos Dante and Julio Martel, features in this compilation interpretting the hits "La Pregonera" and "Pastora".

Billy Cobham's second date as a leader was one of his better sessions. Four songs (all originals by the leader/drummer) comprise "Spanish Moss – A Sound Portrait," and, in addition, Cobham contributed three other pieces. The selections team him with guitarist John Abercrombie, both of the Brecker Brothers, trombonist Garnett Brown, keyboardist George Duke, bassist John Williams, and Latin percussionist Lee Pastora. In general, the melodies and the vamps are reasonably memorable. Cobham also takes an unaccompanied drum solo on "Storm." Worth searching for by fusion collectors.

The DVD "Casacueva y escenario" features a tribute concert performed by the singer from Granada to Niña de los Peines in 2004. This concert took place in the "Patio de los Aljibes" in the Alhambra in Granada, the same place that Pastora Pavón (La Niña de los Peines) took part in the Primer Concurso de Cante Jondo (First "jondo" song Contest). In this performance, Estrella Morente is accompanied by Pepe Habichuela, José Miguel Carmona, Miguel Ochando, Miguel Ángel Cortés, among other musicians, remembering that legendary night of 1922, when Federico García Lorca, Manuel de Falla and Andrés Segovia gathered in Granada to hear la Niña de los Peines.

In the decade between the mid 1970’s and 80’s, American pianist/composer Stu Goldberg was a major force on the world jazz scene, working with the likes of John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra, Wayne Shorter, and Freddie Hubbard before moving to Los Angeles in 1985 to pursue an award-winning career composing for films. Goldberg calls this landmark 1981 MPS album “one of my most favorite albums”. He had worked with versatile drummer Dave Crigger in the legendary Don Ellis Orchestra. Stu says of Crigger, “He could burn it up in any meter.”

A recording of just over fifty minutes of singing José Monje Cruz, then a child under 17 years in the tape of Juan Vargas. The first four songs on the album were recorded outdoors, at the door of the Venta de Vargas. The sound is clear and captures, without echoes, nuances of voice and guitar Shrimp. The second part, the topics of 6 to 10, belong to a party in an interior room of la Venta.
