"Moon Beams" is a pivotal recording from the newly reformed and influential jazz ensemble, The Bill Evans Trio. Following the death of long-time band member Scott LaFaro, Bill Evans enlisted bassist Chuck Israels to perform on this soothing tapestry of jazz ballads. The subtle, yet mind-blowing set, included the haunting Evans' original, "Re: Person I Knew", a jazz rendition of "Stairway to the Stars" and the sublime, "Polka Dots and Moonbeams".

Paul Revere & the Raiders were hard-working American Rock & Roll band of the 1960s who gained plenty of hits but suffered in comparison with their flashier British counterparts. One of the most popular and entertaining rock groups of the 1960s, Paul Revere & the Raiders enjoyed seven years of serious chart action, and during their three biggest years (1966-1969), sold records in numbers behind only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. This Dutton Vocalion's reissue combines pair of the band's albums - "Hard 'n' Heavy (with Marshmallow)" from 1969 and "Indian Reservation" from 1971, which features their first U.S. number one single (Indian Reservation).

The young, Vancouver guitarist and oud player Gordon Grdina sought out Gary Peacock after a Keith Jarrett concert in San Francisco in 2000, and for the next five years Gary became his mentor and teacher. At their last meeting at Gary's house in upstate New York there was virtually no discussion, they just sessioned together for an hour or so, and the next day Gordon asked Gary if he would do a trio record. Gary agreed, and helped bring Paul Motian (another of Gordon's musical heroes) into the picture. Recorded in Brooklyn in January, Think Like the Waves is a remarkable international jazz debut, full of compelling original tunes by Grdina and deep interaction by the trio.

Another album, another tour, another live album souvenir of the tour. Paul McCartney has essentially followed this pattern since his 1989 return to arenas for the supporting tour for Flowers in the Dirt, and each of the records is essentially the same: the big solo hits, some of the big Beatles songs, plus a few tunes from the latest solo album…

This 2015 box set is weighed down by the curious inclusion of Songs from The Capeman and You're the One, the former being one of Paul Simon's weakest records and the latter being a cult favorite, but the other three records – Paul Simon, There Goes Rhymin' Simon, and Hearts and Bones – are among his best and help make this a nice bargain-priced box.

The wait is over: With the 14th June release of One Hand Clapping, one of the most bootlegged live albums in musical history will finally receive a proper release. In August 1974, when Band on the Run was enjoying a seven-week consecutive #1 stint at the top of the UK album charts, Paul McCartney and Wings headed to Abbey Road Studios for the filming of a video documentary and possible live studio album – One Hand Clapping. Despite overwhelming demand for newly recorded material from the biggest band in the world at that time, One Hand Clapping was never officially released.
