The day I heard these three musicians, I was literally "combed back." Well, is that this concert became part of the essential in guitar history (long before fashion "unplugged").

Zinga - Zinga (1982) [2005, Reissue]
R&B, Soul/Funk, Post-Disco | EAC Rip | FLAC, Img+CUE+LOG+Scans (JPEG) | 41:41 | 311,44 Mb
Label: My Disc Records (USA) | Cat.# FZ 38191 | Released: 2005 (1982)

Great grooves from Zinga - a group who must have been filed way back at the end of the record racks in the early 80s, given their name - but who should have been right on top, given the strength of their music. There's a nicely bumping style to most of these cuts - a groove that seems to take off perfectly from the late disco rhythms of "To Be Real" by Cheryl Lynn, and which has a similar stripped-down and funky feel - a groove that shakes off the excesses of disco, yet never goes too far into some of the colder electronics of the 80s years.
