With a discography that includes a classic debut album (1984's Welcome to the Pleasuredome), a misguided sophomore effort (1986's Liverpool), and very few B-sides but plenty (like tons) of remixes, compiling Frankie Goes to Hollywood in a one-disc set is easy if you don't over-think it. Knocking the new wave circus act's career with ease, Frankie Said certainly avoids just that….(allmusic.com)
Sigur Ros has always been known as an unclassifiable band. From releasing an album in a made up language to the use of the bow to create ambient soundscapes on an electric guitar, the music of Sigur Ros is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. Sigur Ros is also well known for releasing beautiful music videos. Untitled 1 received critical acclaim for children playing in a post-apocalyptic winterland and the music video for Glosoli artfully showed a drummer boy leading a pack of children off a cliff. So when I heard that Sigur Ros was going to release a documentary, Heima (meaning home), about all the free shows they gave in Iceland last summer, I was rather excited.

The most extreme thing about Deafheaven’s remarkable fourth album is how subdued it sounds. It suggests devastation without placing you at the center of it.

For the diehards, having these rarities on a proper album is reason enough to acquire Remastered, Vol. 2, and they do elevate a box that doesn't have as many classics as the first box: the 2005 comeback Aerial is teamed with an album where she revisits her past and the lush orchestral 50 Words for Snow. Like its cousin, Remastered, Vol. 2 boasts clean, detailed remasters that feel fuller than their predecessors. That's appropriate for music as sumptuous and transporting as this; the improved fidelity has the effect of making the music seem more vivid, not less.
