If Hits seems a little inadequate, even though it weighs in at 16 tracks, that's because Phil Collins had such a long, productive run. Also, to casual listeners (and possibly even some fans), it's hard to tell which singles are by Genesis and which ones are solo cuts. So, it's almost a certainty that listeners will find something missing from this disc – and not just because Genesis cuts are absent, but because there's not enough space to fit all of Collins' solo hits, especially since the compilers decided to include a couple of lesser, latter-day hits at the expense of some earlier, bigger ones, while adding his non-LP cover of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" to entice hardcore fans…

For me the best Secret Policeman's volume
At the time that I am listening to "The Police", on the radio played two songs from Sting's solo live: 'Roxanne' and 'Message In A Bottle'. These two songs have soul, feeling.

Essential: A masterpiece of progressive rock music.
This wonderful record (Hackett's first solo outing) is absolutely essential listening for fans of classic Genesis.

This was an interesting phase for Mr. Di Meola. It was the 1980s after all, not an easy time for any musician who'd been around as long as he, and he found himself adapting to that brave new musical world the best way he could.

Definitely NOT to be confused with the happy-slappy Genesis of the 1980’s by any means! Somewhere in the English countryside, circa 1970, 5 lads from a prestigious boarding school were hard at work in a small house (courtesy of gracious parents), recovering from wounds (namely having their debut album, From Genesis To Revelation flop and then nearly throwing in the towel altogether)and redoubling their creative efforts.

Recorded and released in 1973, Selling England By the Pound is in my opinion Genesis's best album. It is certainly my favorite. It is a lament for a lost England that was becoming increasingly commercialized. Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett were still in the band. All the songs were co-written by the group. The musicians were still relatively young. Gabriel was 23 and Phil Collins was 22.
