The Wait of Glory is the third album from Proto-Kaw after their retrospective initial release and debut recording Before Became After. Drumming honors have passed from Brad Schulz to newcomer Mike Patrum. The other newcomer is Jake Livgren on lead and background vocals, alto saxophone, and percussion. Livgren has been with the band since its re-inception, but is officially credited as a member on this album. The Special Edition release includes the primary eleven tracks, plus a bonus studio track and a DVD with songs from the bands July, 2005 Nearfest Progressive Rock Festival performance.

Peel Dream Magazine is the nom de plume of New York City-based musician Joe Stevens. A nod to BBC Radio 1 legend John Peel, arbiter of all things underground, Peel Dream Magazine is highly evocative of a certain strain of independent music. Stevens harkens back to the early 1990s, when The Velvet Underground resurged as an inspiration to a new set of bands wielding synthesizers, off-set guitars, and a political bent.

Former Kansas member Kerry Livgren was responsible for penning the group's two best-known tracks (which remain standards on classic rock radio): "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." But by the early 21st century, Livgren had put his Kansas days behind him and launched a new outfit, Proto-Kaw. 2006 saw the release of their third release overall, The Wait of Glory, which shows that Livgren is still an admirer of bombastic hard rock, with prog rock tendencies. The difference between the tracks on The Wait of Glory and the aforementioned Kansas hits are that those two aforementioned tracks possessed tight arrangements and were hook-heavy.
