The Pixies are an American alternative rock band that formed in Boston in 1986. The group disbanded in 1993. The band's style of alternative rock music is heavily influenced by punk and indie rock, and while highly melodic, is capable of being abrasive at the same time. While the Pixies found only modest success in their home country, they were significantly more successful in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe, although never achieving mainstream success with their studio albums.

Eight of the tracks from sessions were released in 1987 as the band's debut, Come On Pilgrim and the remaining nine were sourced for this release.

"Doolittle" is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Pixies. The album's offbeat and dark subject material, featuring references to surrealism, Biblical violence, torture and death, contrasts with the clean production sound achieved by the newly hired producer Gil Norton. "Doolittle" was the Pixies' first international release.

35 years since their groundbreaking platinum-certified album Doolittle catapulted the band into the UK Top Ten, and 20 years since their celebrated reformation at Coachella, Pixies are deep into their second act, and in the midst of a creative purple patch. The Night The Zombies Came is Pixies’ tenth album, if you count their classic 1987 4AD mini- LP, Come On Pilgrim, and first new music since 2022’s acclaimed Doggerel LP. 13 new songs that find Pixies looking ahead to the most cinematic record of their career. Druidism, apocalyptic shopping malls, mediaeval themed restaurants, 12th century poetic form, surf rock, gargoyles, bog people, and the distinctive dry drum sound of 1970s-era Fleetwood Mac are just some of the disparate wonders that inform the new songs.

Released on August 13th, 1990, Bossanova was the Pixies' third release and was their second time collaborating with independent English producer Gil Norton. The album departed from the "unpredictable" signature sound of the Pixies and is considered their first thematic project. All the original songwriting on Bossanova is by leader Black Francis (Frank Thompson), who ultimately reveals his twisted interpretation of surf music combined with his fascination of aliens and UFOs. The end result is Bossanova, often described as a surf-space rock album that touched upon new heights for the Pixies.

"Bossanova" is the third studio album by American rock band Pixies. The album's sound, inspired by surf rock and space rock, complements its lyrical focus on outer space, which references subjects such as aliens and unidentified flying objects. Rolling Stone gave "Bossanova" three out of five stars. In comparison to the previous albums, reviewer Moira McCormick described Bossanova as "more of a straight-ahead rock album - by the Pixies' standards, meaning it's still safely off the mainstream".
