While it may be likely that serious fans of Art Tatum may own many or all of the recordings in this two-CD compilation released by Storyville with the blessings of the late pianist's estate, the acquisition of this particular edition should still be considered. First of all, the remastering exceeds all of the earlier LPs put out by various labels and equals or exceeds any other CD versions. ~ CDUniverse

Arguably the greatest jazz soloist of all time, Art Tatum could play the piano with blinding speed, had technique that amazed classical pianists, and in the 1930s was harmonically three decades ahead of his time. While he considered his main influence to be Fats Waller, Tatum took his music to another planet altogether and was once introduced by Waller who simply said, God is in the house.

Mägo de Oz (Spanish for Wizard of Oz, with a metal umlaut) is a Spanish folk/heavy metal band from Begoña, Madrid formed in mid-1988 by drummer Txus di Fellatio. The band became well known for the strong Celtic feel to their music strengthened through their consistent usage of a violinist and flautist. The name for the band was chosen, according to founding member Txus, because "life is a yellow brick road, on which we walk in the company of others searching for our dreams."

Twelve years after they released their first Merle Haggard box, The Untamed Hawk, Bear Family delivered the sequel, Hag: The Studio Recordings 1969-1976. This picks up where The Untamed Hawk left off, which is more of a musical dividing point than it initially seems. If The Untamed Hawk caught Haggard as he was reaching full flight, Hag captures him in his prime, as every single he released reached the Country Top Ten – often capturing the number one slot – and as he sometimes crossed over into the pop Top 40. Hag was without a doubt the biggest star in country music but the remarkable thing about his reign at the top was that he never played it safe.
