Rap Hip

A budget box set from England combining old school hip-hop from the 1980's. Some of the songs on these CD's are sourced from vinyl, maybe due to licensing issues. These are primarily the original hits by the original artists, a few are different mixes released around the time of the hit version, usually found on the 12". This was released by Low Price Music.

In Tha Beginning…there was rap was a hip-hop album featuring then-modern groups performing new versions of old school rap songs. It is dedicated from the old to the new, to quote Gregory Nice. In Tha Beginning…there was rap (Clean Selections) is a promotional-only sampler that highlights four of the songs on the album, but in clean edits, which was not released anywhere. This CD also includes three instrumentals of those songs, also not available elsewhere but on this promotional-only sampler.

Mega Rap is a 1994 compilation highlighting some of the prized hip-hop of the early 1990's and maybe a few from hip-hop's first successful decade, the 1980's. This was released on the Scandinavian label Arcade.

Alien Rap is a 2008 CD by The Alien Kids, consisting of children allegedly from outer space rapping to kids on planet Earth. This was released by the Creative Kids Productions.

EP is the 1997 EP release by Los Angeles rap group Jurassic 5. Consisting of Mark 7, Akil, Soup, Chali 2na, DJ Nu-Mark, and Cut Chemist, this was their first release two years after their debut single, "Unified Rebelution". When the group were signed by Interscope, their new label reissued the EP but with a few changes, especially in the song "Lesson 6" with the removal of certain samples. The original Pickininny version of "Lesson 6" goes for 6:35 while the Interscope removes a full minute and is edited down to 5:31. The Pickininny version of "Concrete Schoolyard" is 5:23 while the Interscope version removes the end chunk of the song and is slimmed to 4:08. Also, the Pickininny version has 9 songs while the Interscope version completely removes "Blacktop Beat", the instrumental of what was removed from "Concrete Schoolyard."

Rap All Stars is a 3CD hip-hop compilation combining a bit of the old school with a hint of the modern crunk. This was released by Universal Music On Demand.

A compilation CD released in 1993 by Tommy Boy Records, featuring international artists. The music ranges from German to Japanese, Portuguese to Italian, and others, plus some English tracks too.
