New Jersey rockers Fandango were dogged by misfortune and misadventure throughout their inglorious career, and are now best remembered for launching the career of well-traveled vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, later of Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Deep Purple, and other A-line bands. Turner had already been involved in a few amateur groups in the early '70s, but it was with the formation of Fandango in 1975 that he would officially go pro, joining guitarist Rick Blakemore (no relation, huge coincidence), keyboard player Denny LaRue, bassist Bob Danyls, and drummer Abe Speller in the lineup that finally graduated from countless club gigs to a record contract with RCA.

John Dawson Winter III, known as Johnny Winter, was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Best known for his high-energy blues-rock albums and live performances in the late 1960s and 1970s, Winter also produced three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. After his time with Waters, Winter recorded several Grammy-nominated blues albums. In 1988, he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and in 2003, he was ranked 63rd in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".

As I explained in the BoF review, the tensions between Hammer and Goodman on one side and McLaughlin and Cobham on the other, started destroying the group and taking into the abyss the third album’s recording sessions with the group.

Back in 2002, producer David Foster oversaw the debut disc of a young jazz/pop singer named Michael Bublé. With his handsome looks and Sinatra-like voice, Bublé quickly saw his star begin to rise and the success of his disc kicked off a mini-revival of old standards and big band singers. Striking while the iron was hot, Foster fed the flame by introducing an even younger female counterpart to Bublé.
