Set in the Australian bush, The Little Green Road to Fairyland takes the audience on a charming journey with colourful sets and costumes that will delight all ages. Inspired by the original 1922 tale by Annie R. Rentoul and Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, this whimsical production will spark the imagination of our youngest audiences with a tale of love, hope, compassion and a touch of fairy magic. Soprano songstress Katie Noonan joins us for select performances, and along with Paul Boyd’s mesmerising choreography and Elena Kats-Chernin’s original score The Little Green Road to Fairyland will enchant audiences of all ages.

Guy Braunstein, who was concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for nearly fifteen years, pursues an international career as soloist, conductor and composer. Inspired by a period of Beatlemania at home with his family, Braunstein wove a dozen songs from the Beatles’ celebrated Abbey Road album into a concerto for violin and orchestra entitled Abbey Road Concerto.

Beyond the Horizon is a fitting companion to the ensemble's 2002 release, When Strangers Meet. Both CDs marry multi-cultural music traditions to classical performance discipline. The music heard on Beyond the Horizon provided the soundtrack for a Japanese television series about the ancient Silk Road trade route. Yo-Yo Ma has said that the music on this album crosses boundaries of time and space, revealing the unity among seemingly different traditions… that it evokes the memory of the nomadic peoples who traveled and lived along the Silk Road.

The title of Another Timbre’s latest series of releases, “Violin +1”, would seem to imply that the violin is the star, and the ‘+1’ just an accompaniment. However, the label’s recording of composer Linda Catlin Smith’s “Dirt Road” is very much an equal partnership between violinist Mira Benjamin and percussionist Simon Limbrick, if anything slightly skewed towards the percussion. Unfolding over fifteen movements, the order of which is intended to be flexible, the piece drifts and meanders through a wild and intensely-evoked world of forest, weather, and silence.
