Barclay James Harvest was, for many years, one of the most hard luck outfits in progressive rock. A quartet of solid rock musicians John Lees, guitar, vocals; Les Holroyd, bass, vocals; Stuart "Wooly" Wolstenholme, keyboards, vocals; and Mel Pritchard, drums with a knack for writing hook-laden songs built on pretty melodies, they harmonized like the Beatles and wrote extended songs with more of a beat than the Moody Blues.

In June 2016, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore made his much-anticipated return to rock music as Ritchie Blackmor' s Rainbow played three concerts in Europe, two in Germany and one in England. Recordings from the two German shows at Loreley and Bietigheim make up this live album Memories In Rock. The setlist, combining classic tracks from both Deep Purple and Rainbow, was exactly what the fans had wished for…

The tale of the Italian progressive rock band Osanna is long and storied but perhaps the most important factor is that through thick and thin they are still with us. Today the band is made up of Lino Vairetti (vocals), Gennaro Barba (drums), Irvin Vairetti (keyboards and vocals), Sasà Priore (keyboards), Pasquale Capobianco (guitar), and Nello D'Anna (bass). It is this line-up that we hear performing from a 2011 concert recorded in Japan. If you are a fan of the classic Italian symphonic style this is a disc that will be right up your alley. Better yet if you like live performances.

Uli Jon Roth 1973 made his debut in the rock scene at Scorpions when he replaced Michael Schenker on lead guitar, which surpassed the British space rock legends UFO. For many hard rock fans Scorpions were never again as well as at the time when Roth wrote most of the songs. 1978 left Roth of the Scorpions and earned a reputation as one of the best guitarists of the international rock scene in the episode with his power trio electric Sun. Especially with his virtuoso solo deposits, the native Düsseldorf sensation, his vocal contributions could keep up da hard. From the 1980s it became quiet around the man with long blond hair and the fancy wardrobe who retreated to his palace in Wales and dealt more with new age and classical music. He only appeared on the stage of international rock music in the late 1990s in again when he followed an invitation of Joe Satriani for the G3 tour…….

It was the culmination of the band s tour in support of the hugely successful Down To Earth album, released in 1979, and would prove to be the last live show featuring this particular line-up of the band: Ritchie Blackmore (guitars), Don Airey (keyboards), Graham Bonnet (vocals), Roger Glover (bass) and Cozy Powell (drums). The set featured tracks from the new album alongside classics from earlier in their career. There are virtuoso solo spots for Blackmore, Airey and Powell which serve to highlight the sheer musical prowess in the band. The show climaxes with Ritchie Blackmore destroying his guitar and thrusting it into an amp which promptly bursts into flames before fireworks burst overhead at the conclusion of an explosive show.
