Composer extraordinaire Roger Suen has lent his expertise to numerous feature films, television series and documentaries. Best known for his critically acclaimed score for the 2017 Sundance award-winning film, Gook, Film Music Magazine said Roger’s score was “powerfully unexpected, musical color” and included it in their Top 10 Scores of 2017. Roger recently reunited with Gook director Justin Chon to score the modern Asian-American drama film Ms. Purple, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and produced by MACRO, the production company behind critically-acclaimed films such as Mudbound, Roman J. Israel, Esq., and Fences. Roger’s diverse music portfolio includes scoring additional music for Guillermo Del Toro’s four-time Oscar winning film The Shape of Water, 21 st Century Fox’s science fiction thriller The Darkest Minds, starring Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore, Netflix’s five-time Emmy-nominated series Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll, and Marvel’s Emmy-nominated series The Defenders, starring Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter.

Notefornote Entertainment will release a soundtrack album for Justin Chon’s indie drama Ms. Purple. The album features the film’s original music composed by Roger Suen who previously scored Chon’s first feature Gook. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on August 23. Ms. Purple is written and directed by Chon and stars Tiffany Chu and Teddy Lee. The movie follows an Asian American sister and brother who were raised and are now seemingly stuck in Koreatown, Los Angeles and continue to struggle with deep emotional wounds from the difficulty of the parental dynamic. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on September 6 by Oscilloscope Laboratories.

To think that David Gilmour waited 22 years to record his third solo album is a pretty solid indicator that he's not the kind of bloke to merely cash in on his name. After all, he's the guy who sold his house for four million English pounds and gave the money to charity. Perhaps now that the Pink Floyd reunion happened and he and Roger Waters are at least civil to one another, the Floyd enigma can finally find its way into the annals of history and rock legend.
