In 1991, Roland released the JD-800—a forward-thinking, digital synthesizer sporting a huge range of hands-on controls and a gleaming, complex sound. The instrument would soon find its way onto classic albums and numerous film and television scores, and it remains highly sought after to this day. Thanks to our advanced modeling engine that incorporates the original waveform data, you can now have the unique sound and experience of this vintage digital icon in a modern software instrument.

Throughout the 1990s, Roland digital synthesizers based on PCM sampled waveforms formed the basis of music as diverse as R&B, pop, hip-hop, new wave and film scores. Some of these sounds, originally meant to mimic acoustic instruments, became so iconic themselves that they’ve become a permanent part of the collective musical sound palette. Some say it’s the most recorded sound module in history, and lately artists have been utilizing these sounds again, in new and modern ways.

Possibly the most popular vintage synth with EDM producers and electronic musicians worldwide, the Roland JUNO-106 became legendary for its unique combination of incredible Roland analog sound, simple and efficient interface, connectivity as one of the world's first MIDI instruments, and relative affordability.

Designed first as a "kid brother" to the JUPITER-4, the Roland PROMARS Compuphonic Synthesizer married the stability and flexibility of microprocessor control with the awesome sound of analog. The result was a synth that offered incredible punch (2 oscillators per voice and a great-sounding filter) and outstanding stage presence (10 Preset and 10 User Patches- one of the first with memory!).
