"Contaminazione 2.0" is recorded in San Galgano, near Siena (Italy), in September 2018 in an ancient 1200's abbey without a roof, a magical place, worthy location for their timeless music, totally dedicated to their album "Contaminazione" (1973) considered a masterpiece of italian progressive rock. String Quartet as guests and special guest (1 track) Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls) on flute.
Il Rovescio della Medaglia was born in Rome in 1970 from an idea of guitarist Enzo Vita, then Stefano Urso on bass, Gino Campoli on drums and singer Pino Ballarini joined the band…
This is one of the most essential prog classic to adorn any prog lovers collection. This is pure progressive magic from start to finish. Based on the life of Bach, Il Rovescio Della Medaglia create a dream-like environment to tell the story from. Lyrics are in Italian and the musicianship is exceptional throughout. RDM deliver a wide contrast in moods and atmosphere here ranging from the pure and serene to loud crashing of guitars and synths. Orchestration is obviously filtered throughout and work very well for the listener making this a real gem all the way around. This is beautiful Italian tension building prog at its finest.
Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection
A very nice surprise!!
This album came as a surprise to me in many ways. This band is one of my favorite in the RPI genre, but I didn’t realize that this album existed until recently.
A great return for the Italian prog band Odessa, expected for thirteen years from the previous "The final day - il giorno del giudizio", twenty-three years after the acclaimed "Stazione Getsemani". "L'alba della civiltà"" shows all the best qualities already expressed by the Marches band: extraordinary versatility in its hard-progressive dynamics of Italian seventies sound, forays into "purple" way, jazz disgressions, romantic traits, but especially notable expressive, rhythmic and melodic brilliance. It is no coincidence that among the covers already proposed by Odessa there are Area, Rovescio della Medaglia, Trip, and this time, surprisingly, comes "L'anno, il posto, l'ora 1972", a song by Pooh of the symphonic period "Parsifal", with the particularity of going to propose the version never officially finished in their discography (there is only an old live document)…
Villa Pamphili is a double CD set with a selection of 32 tracks by Italian prog bands! In addition to major band tracks, this sampler includes also several rare tracks from vintage 7" singles by less known groups: Fholks, Fiori di Campo and even Krel (an early PFM line-up from 1970). Pay attention: while Villa Pamphili was a live 1970's concert, this double CD is not a live album from that concert.
