Roy Buchanan, My Babe (1980) | MP3 256 Kbps | 69 MB

This was downloaded some time ago ... According to the Tags, it's a vinyl rip (albeit a nice sounding & well preserved LP). Not included in "my-personal-favorites" list, but then some of the more guitar-oriented among you might find a couple of interesting riffs in here (it's either that Roy's tone and volume is "lower", or maybe the new singer is covering the guitar with his howling ;-)).

These recordings are rare and unreleased never heard performances of the Fender guitar master in his prime with his well oiled road band of the era, and feature many great musicians such as Dick Heintze, Malcolm Lukens, John Harrison and Roy Byrd. The recordings are clean and clear, especially for the 1970’s.

Judging from the response, you seem to like the ol' boy. No point in stopping now, then !!! I have quite a few CDs, and although there's been a recent "flood" in blues newsgroups with mainly his latest stuff (Alligator, etc) I'd rather upload his earlier recordings - personal favorites. Stay tuned, First & Second album coming next...

Billy Price's first studio recording since 2009 featuring Billy and the Billy Price Band along with special guests Monster Mike Welch, Fred Chapellier, and Mark Wenner and Mark Stutso of the Nighthawks. Billy Price, east coast blue-eyed soul man, has been entertaining audiences for the past four decades. In his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., he is an institution. Price's popularity isn't hard to explain. As Geoffrey Himes of the Washington Post has written, "Unlike so many blues revivalists, Price is not an imitation of older, better singers–he's the real thing."

This is a specially priced, two-CDs-for-the-price-of-one photo-cube set, loaded with great stuff from Charlie Musselwhite, Koko Taylor, Lonnie Brooks, Johnny Winter, Billy Boy Arnold, Lonnie Mack, and a host of others who have trotted their wares on the label over the years. Besides giving the novice one great introduction to the label (as the music runs from traditional to modern), the big bonus here is a treasure trove of previously unissued tracks from Roy Buchanan (a chaotic version of Link Wray's "Jack the Ripper"); Floyd Dixon (a recut of his Blues Brothers-approved hit "Hey Bartender"); Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland in a marvelous outtake from the Showdown! album ("Something to Remember You By"); and the band that started it all, Hound Dog Taylor & the Houserockers, with a crazed version of Elmore James' "Look on Yonder's Wall," as sloppy as it is cool.

For fans of the American blues-rock Good Whiskey Blues - just a gift. Cool melodies, captivating rhythms, original things … and what voice !? Bluesmen such as Bleu Jackson, Freddie & The Screamers, Sy Clopps, would look absolutely win-win next to any superstar, and slide guitar of Michael Henderson is not worse than, say, the same Dave Hole.
